BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY, NATIONAL
DAY OF ACTION: National Campus Day of Action for
Palestinian Rights, April 9th, 2002: Students Demand
University Divestment.

In response to increased Israeli military aggression
and the total siege of Palestinian society, students
across the country will hold a national day of action
on April 9th. This national day of action, in
solidarity with the people of Palestine, will demand
university divestment from Israel and will commemorate
the 1948 massacre in the Palestinian village of Deir
Yassin, which was one in a series of ethnic cleansing
operations conducted by Zionist militia against the
indigenous Palestinian population.

In Northern California, Students forJustice in
Palestine (SJP) will be holding a rally and direct
action on the UC Berkeley campus at noon on Sproul

Palestinian Students (GUPS) at San Francisco State
University will also be holding a march and protest
which will begin at 12:30 pm in Malcolm X Plaza on the
SFSU campus (Public contact (650) 291-7615). UC Davis
Students for Justice in Palestine will hold a rally
and evening teach-in on their campus (Public contact
justiceforpalestine@yahoo.com).

April 9th will be a national day of action with
solidarity events on campuses across the country. For
example:

Students at Montclair State University in New Jersey
will hold an educational event entitled: Recipe for
Disaster: A look at America's Involvement in the
Middle East. A rally and street theater organized by
students at Ohio State University will highlight human
rights abuses of the Israeli occupation. Students from
the University of Minnesota will demand university
divestment in a protest at the Minneapolis Federal
Courts Building. Students at the University of
Illinois Urbana-Champaign will be holding a day of
action and educational events, including street
theater, film screenings and a public rally. (contact

8-12th) has been organized by students at Carnegie
Mellon University in Pittsburg, Penn. They will be
having teach-ins, slide shows, eyewitness accounts,
film screenings and a vigil. (contact the Arab Student

Students at the University of Washington will be
holding a vigil with visual demonstrations in the UW
Campus Center. They will also host a teach-in and
screen a documentary film.

April 9th was selected as a national day of action for
divestment at the National Student Conference of the
Palestine Solidarity Movement, held in Berkeley in
February 2002; to coincide with the annual
commemoration of the massacre of Deir Yassin. For more

CALL TO PROTEST SHARON IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE
PALESTINIAN PEOPLE, APRIL 19-22 IN WASHINGTON, DC! The
American Israeli Political Action Committee (AIPAC)
invited the war criminal Ariel Sharon to town for
their annual conference. On the evening of Monday,
April 22nd, the conference will be addressed by war
criminal Ariel Sharon. This year's conference is being
billed as an event "to show support for the war on
terrorism being waged by the U.S. and Israel". In
addition to Sharon, both Secretary of Defense Donald
Rumsfeld and Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz
have been invited to speak!

April 19-22, hundreds of thousands of anticapitalist,
anti-war, and global justice activists will converge
in D.C, to protest the current war, the escalation of
U.S. military attacks across the globe, and the
ongoing war on economic and social rights within the
U.S. and throughout the world.

The Committee in Solidarity with the Palestinian
People (CISPP), the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination
Committee (ADC-SF Chapter), Jews Against the
Occupation, and Students for Justice in Palestine
(SJP) have called on all those struggling for justice
in Palestine to join in the protests of Ariel Sharon,
when he addresses this year's AIPAC conference.
